Adult Education

First Congregational Church of Ithaca is committed to adult religious education. Several times each month, following the Sunday service, we provide AfterWords. These are education forums that deal with wide-ranging topics. We often bring in speakers from the community or Cornell to lead discussions. Our AfterWords have addressed current events (racial justice, poverty, the opioid crisis, mental health, and mass incarceration), as well as topics in Christian theology and history. Some AfterWords are lecture-based. Others are panel discussions. Our adult education program also includes Bible studies, and a spring lecture series called the “Ruth Foote Lectures,” funded by our endowment. Adult education at FCC is relevant, vibrant.  It is always thought-provoking, and designed to build up our faith community. Childcare is always available during adult education programming.
